Every day, thousands of individuals use Tooling U-SME training to enhance their knowledge and expertise. We've worked with more than 5,000 organizations to train thousands of people. But simply purchasing training does not guarantee results. In fact, training without a plan is the first step to failure. The good news is that our Client Success Team has gained experience with successful learning program rollouts, and we can help share that experience with you.

Learning Program Best Practices

Consider these tips for success when implementing a learning program in your organization.

  1. Get Ready by Defining Your Goals
Defining your goals and expectations will help you begin to shape your initial training curriculum and organize your training program. Identify how Tooling U-SME will be part of your onboarding for new hires and upskilling for existing employees. Consider logistics too. Can you create a training room, or will the training take place on the manufacturing floor?

  2. Choose Your Training Champions
Once you have identified your goals and expectations, you should have a good idea who can best help you achieve them. The team can consist of HR leaders, Training Coordinators, Division Managers, Department Supervisors, or anyone who knows your organizational goals and understands your employees and what will motivate them. Your team will fill key roles as Training Champions (Site Administrators and Group Administrators) who will be actively involved in the learning process and administer the learning management system.

  3. Kick-Off Your Learning Program Plan
With goals identified and Training Champions in place, the next step is determining proper setup, management, coaching, and follow-though. Gather your Training Champions and begin outlining the details of your training program and identifying employees to be trained.

  4. Participation With Realistic Timelines
Start with smaller groups of participants initially who are excited to participate and can provide feedback. Success can be achieved by requiring mandatory online class participation paired with on-the-job training with realistic timelines.

  5. Communicate With Your Team
Communication is critical to the positive adoption of the program, while ongoing communication is key to the individual success of your administrators and students. Tooling U-SME can provide resources, including fliers, demos, and user guides to help build awareness and serve as ongoing support, but the bulk of the communication should focus on your message, such as your investment in developing to your employees.

  6. Identify Next Steps
Continuous improvement drives sustainable results. Utilize metrics and reporting to make sure you are meeting your goals with your training initiative. This data will help Training Champions create a plan including retraining needs and identify future opportunities. Next steps should include expanding your team by identifying back up Training Champions.
