A key element of the SME Education Foundation’s mandate to prepare young people as they explore manufacturing opportunities is our SME PRIME schools initiative. Tooling U-SME is a critical partner in SME PRIME schools: Conducting supporting needs research, regional skills gap analysis, curriculum development and training.

Our signature effort in supporting young people pursuing educational opportunities at the trade, technical, baccalaureate and graduate level are our scholarships.

The SME Education Foundation awarded 587 scholarships to young men and women in 2019. $1,647,000 went to graduating high school seniors as well as undergraduates and graduate students pursuing studies in advanced manufacturing/technology and related engineering fields.

We’d like to extend the invitation to apply for these scholarships to young people among your own circle of family, friends, clients and colleagues. The deadline for applying is approaching, and we want to ensure awareness of these scholarships that support hundreds of students every year.

The application process for the SME Education Foundation Scholarships remains open through Feb. 1, 2020.

The SME Education Foundation awards scholarships annually, so students can reapply every year. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $40,000 and can be used for tuition, books or lab/course fees related to attaining a technical or engineering education.

Students wishing to apply for a scholarship must register first. Once registered, using a streamlined online application process, students fill out just one application for access to nearly 60 different scholarships. If you’re seeking a degree in manufacturing or engineering, apply today! Useful tips for the application process are also available online .

For more information on scholarships or how you (or your company) can support the SME Education Foundation, visit smeef.org or call 313.425.3000.
